Her mother is from the Metis Nation in Qu’Appelle Saskatchewan, and her father is from Gambler First Nation here in Manitoba. Tina made my first couple of ribbon skirts in 2020 during COVID as a way to cope with the pandemic. In 2021, she experienced the loss of my son to suicide and she continued to sew skirts as form of healing and grounding as she grieved through that loss. As time went on, she continued making ribbon skirts and in doing so, has healed and connected with culture, built strength, and identity within herself as an indigenous woman, she has even had the courage to start jingle dress dancing!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMaking skirts is such a passion for Tina. She loves that she can take a piece of fabric and be as creative as she wants and that creation always resonates with someone in just the way they need it to.
