Our Story
Shauna Fontaine, is a proud urban citizen of Sagkeeng First Nation residing in Winnipeg, Manitoba Treaty 1 Territory. Shauna is the creative mind and designer behind Anishinaabe Girl Designs, a testament to wearable luxurious Indigenous artistry she labels, urban boujee chic.
Shauna has spent more than two decades crafting her art and preserving her Indigenous heritage. Her passion is illustrated through intricate designs and commitment to personal artistic development and transmission of culture.
Beyond her artistry, Shauna is deeply committed to empowering emerging and other Indigenous handmade artists, especially women and youth, through mentorship in entrepreneurship and creating spaces for artists to enter the retail market. Her new boutique, at 165 Lilac st in Winnipeg's Corydon area promotes the Indigenous handmade industry, where authenticity is key and features her designs as well as the work of other Indigenous makers
The Boutique is a treasure of curated handmade items from local Indigenous makers where there is simply some thing for everybody.
