Our Story

Owner and designer Shauna Fontaine Anishinaabekwe and proud urban member of Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba began her love affair with beads over 20 years ago. Shauna's late mother gifted her with a small amount of seed beads as a youth, which turned to a lifelong passion for this artistic expression.

A self-taught aspiring artist, emerged after the loss of her mother in 2000. Beading became a place of healing and forgiveness. It became the place a daughter could connect with her mother, through the gift of art.

Shauna has engaged with community Knowledge Keepers in accessing and harvesting materials used in her designs. Through her designs she hopes to encourage cultural understanding and appreciation, and art as healing. Shauna has offered beading workshops with women and youth, while fostering healing, self-empowerment and cultural transmission.

Currently, her 2 youngest teens have been learning, watching, experiementing and engaging in quality time while honouring spirit. They have each found a love for beading and artisic expression.
