Sinew and Sole is by Sam, a Metis beadwork artist works in a neo-traditional style, blending cultural artistry with modern imagery. Inspired by folk-lore, nature, tattoos and a dark aesthetics, she creates hand-sewn beadwork that balances tradition and pop culture. What began 10 years ago as a way to deepen a connection with her culture has evolved into a creative practice rooted in self-expression, artistry, and respect for traditional techniques. Each piece is thoughtfully created, reflecting a passion for preserving cultural knowledge while pushing the boundaries of beadwork as wearable art. Currently, her favourite things to make are framed mixed-media pieces along with bolo ties.
